Prost!!

All of this heavy snow makes me crave lounging on the couch and stuffing my face with mac 'n cheese. Or beer. Crazy good German beer.

Living on the Jersey City Waterfront, my boyfriend and I are lucky enough to live very
close to an amazing authentic Beer Garden. Or Biergarten if you want to be specific.

It's Zeppelin Hall - (zeppelinhall.com)

Anyone been? It's even been featured in the NY Times.  So delish and their giant Bavarian pretzels are to die for!

We delivered a cake here last week for a birthday party. It was carved into a giant beer mug with real buttercream as the "froth".

The pretzel was made from chocolate and the "salt" is really isomalt sugar.

I wonder if Zeppelin Hall is still open in this blizzard....hmmmmm.....

Prost! ("Cheers" = German)

Best Save The Date EVER!

I saw this going around the internet and couldn't help but post this awesome online Save the Date. And just in time for Valentine's Day!

I work with a lot of brides who hand me their invitations and save the dates to see what their theme/color/design is for the big day in order to create their custom cake...but no one has ever sent me an online save the date.

Take a look!!

Need Some Cake Advice?

TheKnot.com asked some cake designers across the country to send them their best tips and advice for brides when shopping for their wedding cake. We were honored they chose our quote to end the article! Click the magazine cover to get the article...

The Knot is one of the best wedding sources around so I encourage all Brides, Mother of the Brides, Maid of Honors, etc. to check out their "Real Weddings" section for some unique (and real) ideas!

Who Done it?

We recently created this 13th birthday cake for twin girls who had a murder mystery themed bash at The Trump Nat'l Golf Club in Bedminster.  (Very cool theme, by the way.)
The client and I didn't quite know at first what should be on the cake -- but the theme was officially called "Who Killed for the Crown?" so it came together after a little brainstorming...
Everything - the beauty queen sash, tiara, lipsticks and magnifying glass are all edible. I especially like the little footprints around the cake base.
We hope the girls' had a blast at the party! (And that they caught the beauty queen murderer!)

Babies & Moons & Cakes - Oh My!

I swear 2009 was the year of the Moon Baby Shower Cake. I had tons of requests for them.

The celestial theme has been around for years when it comes to children parties/events but I feel like the trend picked up speed over the last year or two. It's everywhere!

Baby Shower Invitations!

Party Store Decorations!

Ok maybe that last one just helped inspire the theme but still....everywhere!

It's a great theme though, especially for gender neutral baby showers.

Here's a photo of a little guy we made out of gumpaste for one celestial cake. He's almost too cute to eat!

And this one was adorable too - sitting on Buttercream Clouds!

Can't wait to see what the Baby Theme will be for 2010!
Anyone got any ideas??
